Insights, observations, discoveries...

  • I look out the window and notice the trees—rooted, still, and breathing.
  • Meditation isn’t really concentration; it’s concentrated noticing.
  • In a single sitting meditation, I must still rein in the wild horse—my thoughts—a bazillion times.
  • There’s a community of folks who gather for meditation, yoga, bellydancing and more, less than an hour away! It’s the Butterfly Rainbow Center in Sioux Falls, and occasionally, they bring in Buddhist monastics for a Buddhist Vihara Meditation & Dharma Discussion. I need to time my paper-grading around these…
  • I've been invited into a community of folks who meditate once a week in Little Town. We draw to ourselves what we need (and, unfortunately sometimes, what we ask for).
  • Fresh air enhances meditation.
  • The combination of spring & fresh air (open windows) means one must deal with loud, distracting peacock mating calls.
  • Let your shoulders gently fall.
  • Meditation isn’t an interruption; it’s what sustains me through the countless interruptions to come.
  • Stay right here. Stay…
